Since 2018 I have had the pleasure to chair the MR of the Visserschool. My name is Marjolein Koementas-de
Vos; I have two children together with my husband Ken. I am a clinical psychologist by profession at a large mental health institution, a teacher to psychologists in training, and am also conducting research for a PhD. We are very happy that our children go to the Visserschool. We specifically chose for bilingual education, and how the school works both in large and small groups was an appeal for us as well. Through working with the MR I've discovered that the Visserschool team, despite a heavy work load, works with heart and soul committed to finding the right fit of education for everyone. The spearhead of the MR is to improve communication among all involved with the Visserschool. Therefore, we are committed to communication involving school policy and improving communication amongst parents, teachers, and students (through means such as Social Schools), and cooperation with the active parent council.
Hi. I’m Michelle Rijksen, an American married to Bas and our two children both attend the Visserschool. I have a degree in psychology but after finishing university and still unsure of what I wanted to do ‘when I grew up’, I ended up working a colorful array of jobs- from barista, to working with autistic children, to giving English lessons in South Korea and more, until I ended up being snagged by a Dutchie while working in Amsterdam for a non-profit organization. I was immediately drawn to the vision of the Visserschool and their commitment to providing quality bilingual education. I joined the MR because I wanted to support the vision and, as a native English speaker, see the bilingual aspect stay a steady course.
My name is Eric Bernard, born and raised in Amsterdam, I now live in Monnickendam. This school year I am also part of the Vissersschool MR. I've worked in education since 1977 with most of this time spent in the older elementary groups. My hobbies are playing the keyboard, football (currently in a passive manner), and walking my dog (a Bernese Mountain Dog). At the moment, I work as a teacher support in groups 4 through 8.
My name is Lotte Gerritsen. I've been working at the Visserschool since 2011. The Visserschool is a really nice place to work as a teacher. Good contact with the children and the parents is important to me. Working together with my colleagues brings me a lot of joy in my work, too. We help each other a lot.
I'm part of the MR because I think it's important as a teacher to work together with parents, thinking about school aspects and happenings in the school.
Together we stay strong and together we will make it work.
